Winter has arrived at the end of autumn wrapped in a sheet of dense fog. Winter is a definite season in agriculture. Ignoring the cold winter air, the farmers are busy with fieldwork. In the month of Poush, crops, animals, fisheries, poultry, including the work that we have to do in agriculture is presented.

Boro paddy

The seedbed should be covered with clear polythene at night during the extra cold and removed during the day. The seedlings grow well. 2-3 cm of water should be kept on the bed 4-5 days after germination to control weeds and birds.

When the seedlings turn yellow, apply 8 gm urea per sqm. Even then, if the seedlings are not green, gypsum should be given at the rate of 10 grams per square meter.

The mainland should be well cultivated and muddy with water with ladder. The land should be given organic manure and other fertilizers other than urea should be given before the last cultivation. When the seedlings are 30-40 days old, seedlings should be planted on the mainland. The first installment should be applied 15-20 days after planting, the second after 30-40 days, and the last installment after 50-55 days.

Wheat

Apply urea fertilizer and give necessary irrigation in a wheat field. When the seedlings are 18-21 days old, weeds of the wheat field should be cleared and 12-14 kg urea fertilizer should be applied per acre and irrigation should be given.

After irrigating the land, Joe has to break the soil. Where there are dense seedlings in a wheat field, some seedlings should be picked and thinned.

Corn

The soil at the base of the cornfield should be removed. Irrigation should be done by mixing urea fertilizer well with the soil at the beginning. The dead leaves at the bottom of the tree should be broken. If maize or mixed crops are cultivated with maize, they need to be taken care of.

Potatoes

If the height of the seedlings is 10-15 cm, urea fertilizer should be applied;

Between the two rows, the soil should be chopped with the help of a spade and put at the base of the tree. It is better not to remove the soil at the base of the tree in this way for 10-12 consecutive days.

Nabi Dhasa disease may occur in potato crops. To control plague, 2 g of Dithene M45 or Secure or Endophyl should be mixed with a liter of water and sprayed every 7 days.

Irrigation of plague-infested land should be stopped. Besides, mulching, irrigation, and weed control should be done in potato crops. If the age of the tree is 90 days, the potato should be removed after 10 days by cutting the tree equal to the soil. After picking the potatoes, they should be well dried, sorted, and stored.

Cotton

Cotton is usually collected in 3 stages. In the beginning, 50 percent of the bowl is cracked for the first time, 30 percent of the remaining crop is ripe for the second time and the rest of the crop is ripe for the last part of cotton. Seed cotton is picked on sunny dry days. Good cotton should be picked separately and dried 3-4 times in the sun and stored.

Pulses and oil crops

Now is the time to ripen lentils, gram, peas, masakalai, mug, linseed. If mustard and linseed ripen too much, the seeds may burst and fall in the heat of the sun, so it is necessary to collect them when they are 80 percent ripe.

In the case of a pulse crop, the crop should be collected by keeping a few inches from the soil without uprooting the tree. This will increase the fertility and nitrogen supply in the soil.

Vegetables

Cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, eggplant, cauliflower, turnip, carrot, bean, gourd, pumpkin, peas should be taken care of regularly. The most common pest of tomato crop is the fruit borer. These insects can be controlled using pheromone traps. 15 traps should be set for every bigha of land.

If the infestation is severe, this insect can be controlled by spraying Quinolphus group pesticide (Debicin 25 EC / Kinalax 25 EC / Corolux 25 EC) in 1 ml per liter of water.

To collect the tomatoes and store them at home for 4-5 months, pick the tomato plants with half-ripe tomatoes and hang them upside down in a cool place in the house and cover the tomatoes with a thin cloth.

As the soil loses moisture in winter, regular irrigation should be given to the vegetable fields as per the demand. In addition, weeding, soil removal at the beginning, application of fertilizers, and prevention of diseases.

Plants

The soil at the base of the tree should be loosened and the weeds should be cleared. The tree should be tied to a pole. Infected stalks of diseased trees should be pruned. Regular irrigation should be given at the base of the tree.

Livestock

In winter, malnutrition, poultry, mycoplasmosis, foul typhoid, and water retention are seen in poultry. So the necessary care must be taken. Vitamin ACDE and folic acid should be given to solve the problem of malnutrition in chickens. In case of severe winter, the poultry shed must have thick curtains and ventilation.

The diseases of ducks at this time are- duck plague disease, cholera disease, and botulism. In order to prevent plague, the first dose should be given at the age of 18-21 days and the second dose at the age of 36-43 days after the first vaccination.

It is very important to provide thick sacks for cows in winter. Cows need to be fed regularly. To reduce the cost of feeding cows, they have to cultivate grass on their own land.

Goat pneumonia is very common in winter. If there is cough and foul-smelling stool for more than 5 days, then it should be understood that pneumonia is due to a parasite. The use of ceftriaxone and tylosin in pneumonia has shown very good results.

Fisheries

Fish need special care in winter. Because at this time the water in the pond decreases. The water is polluted. Fish diseases also increase. In winter, carp and horn fish are more prone to dropsy. In order to prevent this disease, it is necessary to take measures so that the wound of the fish does not become diseased. In order to cure this disease, 100 mg of Terramycin or streptomycin per kg of food should be taken for 7 consecutive days.

The dry season means less soil moisture. So if every crop needs to be irrigated according to demand. You can also contact your nearest Upazila Agriculture, Fisheries, and Livestock Office to solve any problem of agriculture or you can call 16123 from any mobile operator for expert advice.
